Every culture carries a story worth hearing. Following the footsteps of our Cultural Ambassadors, we will venture into the community to engage directly with members of diverse multicultural groups. Starting with the daily lives of our South Asian neighbors, we will gradually uncover the cultural barriers and limitations they navigate in Hong Kong. We invite you to join this meaningful journey—not only to discover different cultures but to redefine your role as a global citizen.

What’s Included:

  • Human Library: Hear firsthand accounts and personal stories shared by local multicultural residents.
  • Cultural Exploration: Visit various corners of the neighborhood to observe the vibrant interaction between daily life and the community.
  • Cultural Experience: Engage your senses through traditional attire, authentic food, and music for a multi-dimensional cultural experience.

Remarks: Actual itineraries can be customized according to group requirements.

內容包括

  • 真人圖書館:由當地多元文化居民與你分享他們的故事。
  • 文化考察:到訪不同的社區角落,觀察生活與社區的互動。
  • 文化體驗:由服飾、食品到音樂,讓你以不同感觀體驗文化。

註:實際行程按團體要求而定。

Cultural Ambassador Team (TKW) Recruitment

Aim: To foster an inclusive and harmonious society of Hong Kong by bridging the gap between multicultural communities and the public.

Eligibility: 

  • Resident of To Kwa Wan (lived at least 1 year)
  • Acquired basic English communication skill

Quota: 12

Training content:

  • Storytelling and intercultural Dialogue
  • Skills on promoting Cultural Awareness
  • Leadership Training

14-May (Thu), 10:30-12:00: workshop 1
21-May (Thu), 10:30-12:00: workshop 2
28-May (Thu), 10:30-12:00: workshop 3
4-Jun (Thu), 10:30-12:00: assessment
9-Jun (Tue), 9:00-13:00: practicum

Venue: To Kwa Wan Service Point

Incentives:

  • A certificate will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment.
  • Enrollment in UID’s Cultural Ambassador Team list.
  • Job opportunity: HKD 250 for the practicum session on 9-June-2026.

Note:

  • The workshop is free of charge.
  • A deposit of HKD 200 will be collected. Each unattended workshop session, or a late arrival of 15 minutes or more, will result in a HKD 100 deduction. The deposit will be fully returned upon full attendance.

Why Participate in Cultural Sensitivity Training?
To ensure seamless communication with service users from diverse backgrounds, "Cultural Sensitivity" serves as an essential bridge. This training invites you into the unique stories of others. By understanding subtle cultural nuances, we can learn to be more welcoming and work effectively alongside multicultural community members.

Through this training, you and your team will:

  • Build a Foundation of Trust: Develop a deeper understanding and respect for cultural differences to establish mutual trust. This not only enhances service effectiveness but also fosters long-term, sustainable professional relationships.
  • Enhance Communication Skills: Master techniques to overcome communication barriers and reduce misunderstandings, allowing you to meet the specific needs of service users more accurately.
  • Practise Cultural Safety: By learning about cultural taboos, teams can avoid unintentional offense and create an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for both service and work.

Core Activities:

  • Multiculturalism in Hong Kong: An in-depth exploration of Hong Kong’s multicultural landscape and the unique challenges faced by multicultural residents, equipping participants with professional cross-cultural interaction skills.
  • Empathy through Scenario Simulation: Practice handling cultural differences through diverse, real-world simulations to enhance practical on-site service capabilities.
  • Navigating Bias, Stereotypes, and Daily Life: An analysis of common cultural biases and stereotypes to help staff identify and overcome self-bias, ultimately optimizing interactions with service users and colleagues.

為與不同背景的服務對象溝通無阻,「文化敏感度」就像是一座橋樑。這訓練將帶你走進不同人的故事。從理解那些微小的文化差異開始,讓我們更能學會接待,與多元文化的成員一起同工。

 透過參與訓練你和隊工可以...

  • 更理解和尊重文化上的差異,從而奠定穩固的互信基礎。這不僅能強化服務成效,更有助於建立長遠且可持續的服務關係。
  • 更掌握應對溝通障礙的技巧,減少誤解,以便更準確地滿足服務對象的需要。
  • 透過學習相關文化禁忌,隊工能避免無意的冒犯,為服務與工作間營造一個包容、尊重且具安全感的環境。

  • 多元文化在香港:深入探討香港多元文化背景及相關居民面臨的特殊挑戰,旨在引導參加者掌握跨文化互動的專業技巧。
  • 易地而處情景模擬:透過模擬多元化的跨文化情境,讓同工在實踐中鍛鍊應對文化差異的能力,全面提升現場服務的實戰水準。
  • 偏見、刻板印象與日常:剖析常見的文化偏見與刻板印象,協助同工檢視並克服潛在的自我偏見,從而優化與服務使用者或同工之間的互動。
